We Shred It is co-owned by David Foster, a former RAF Police officer.
That background shapes how we work: clear procedures, people you can trust with sensitive information, and a written record of every job, from collection to destruction.
Our story
Why I started We Shred It
I’ve worked in security for over 30 years, from the RAF Police to running my own security company. For the last few years that has mostly meant providing front-of-house security to corporate organisations.
Most of those clients took their physical and IT security seriously. But I noticed that when it came to shredding their confidential paper, many used large national companies whose drivers were rarely escorted, often unreliable and frequently agency staff.
We already had security officers on site at those premises, so it made sense for an SIA-licensed, vetted officer to collect the paper too. That’s how We Shred It began.
We started with a small industrial shredder. Today we serve not just the clients of Risk Secured, our commercial security company, but businesses, homes and schools in every sector across the UK.
We’re still family owned, with good old-fashioned values: turning up on time, keeping you informed and giving outstanding customer service.

We Shred It Ltd was incorporated in May 2019 and has been trading since 2020. We run from our own units in Burton upon Trent and Martley, near Worcester, with an office at Blythe Valley Business Park in Solihull.
We look after two kinds of customer. Businesses use our lockable consoles, 240-litre bins, on-site shredding and scheduled or one-off collections. Households order a pack of shredding bags online, fill them at their own pace and book one collection, anywhere in the UK.
How we work
- Our own people. All our staff are directly employed (no agency drivers), vetted to BS 7858 and credit checked.
- Secure from the start. Consoles and bins are locked, bags are sealed.
- Destroyed to BS EN 15713, the recognised standard for secure shredding.
- A certificate after every job, emailed to you for your records.
- Recycled. Shredded paper goes for recycling.
- Procedures aligned with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
